Strength Characteristics of Unsaturated Loess

Under the condition of initial matrix suction and based on the tests and analyses, the correlation between the cohesion and the matrix suction of unsaturated loess , the characteristics of shear strength of unsaturated loess changing with matrix suction, and the formula for computing critical matrix suction are derived.To explore the basic law of the shear strength of unsaturated loess further,the controlled-suction tests are used.
