Development of Loess Engineering Properties Research in China

This paper firstly gives a brief account of the therr historical periods of the development of loessengineering properties research in China;Secondly reviews the achievements made by Chinese scholars in recentyears in loess dynamic behaviors,the theory and test of unsaturated soil mechanics characters , moistening ordemoistening properties and structural strength characters of collapsible loess,collapsibility of thick Q₂ loess and itsevaluation,test and evaluation of pile foundation in collapside loess,the new technique of collapsible loess qroundtreatment and so on;and finally points out some problems which remain to be further studied in loess engineeringpropertles.
