The Stress Behavior of Extensible Geotextiles in the Pull-Out Test

Abstract
Because of the limitation of experimental techniques, most researches on geosynthetics were focused on quasiinextensible reinforcements. The stress behavior of extensible fabrics could then only be estimated indirectly. In this paper, a new technique for measuring extensible geotextiles by strain gages was used. The non-uniform distribution of stresses in the pull-out test was observed, which could explain the difference of apparent friction angles obtained from the pull-out test and the direct shear test, respectively.
