Development and Experiment of K0-Consolidation Triaxial Apparatus

  • A loading dsvice for K0-consolidation triaxial apparatus and its test results are reported in this paper. In order to perform specimen consolidation under the condition of zero lateral deformation before shearing, a optical fibre displacfmen transducer is used to control water level in the inner cell by applying pressure to the specimen automatically or manually. This dsvica is convenient to operate and suitable to fit onto common triaxial appratus. The test results of different kind of soil indicate that it has high sensitivity to control lateral deformation and fulfils the requirement of K0-consolidation triaxial apparatus. The values of strength parameters in terms of effective stress obtained from tests with this device are equal to or slightly larger than that with the device of isotropic consolidation, but both of their stress-strain relationship and strength of undrained test are quite different.
