Application of Centrifugal Modeling to Study Bearing Properties of Laterally Loaded Piles

Abstract
At first, the testing apparatus, calibration methods of the equipment and the revision method of the measured data are introduced. Then the load-displacement properties, load transfer, and the soil responses around piles are analysed according to the results of a series of model pile tests in 50g centrifugal field under both monotonic and cyclic loading conditions. Negative friction in pile shaft is also examined and evaluated. Finally, the results of centrifugal tests are compared with those of three-dimensional finite element analyses.
