Abstract
The results of study on the loads imposing on the box-type structures buried in elasto-plastic soils under airhlast loading using the equivalent-soil-layer model and two-step approach of analysis proposed by the first author of the paper are described in the paper. In this study, the influence of the wave velocity in the soil, the buried depth of the structure, the backfill of the excavated structure and the hard soil layer beneath the structure, etc. is taken into account.Based on the analysis of results obtained from a series of computation, the effects of the above mentioned factors were estimated qualitatively and quantitatively. Expressions for determining the pressures on the roof and the bottom of the box structure embedded in elasto-plastic soils are given. The approach and curves of calculation for the dynamic response analysis of the buried box-type structures under ,rblast loading are recommended.
