Compress Shear Fracture Criterion of Rock and It's Application

In this papar compressive shear fracture tests for brittle specimens (such as marble, etc.) with an edge crack are described. The test results indieate that compressive shear fracture criterion may be expressed as λ12K1Ⅰ + |KⅡ| =KⅡc, As an application of this criterion, analysis of horizontal cracks at the heel of a dam is also presented.
