A Coefficient Matrix of Amplifying Tensile Stresses ——A Shortcut for "No Tension" Analysis of Rock

  • Zienkiewicz et al., proposed and used the so-called stress trasfer (or relaxation) method to handle the no tension behavior of rock. Any tensile stresses to de induced are annihilated (approximately) by using an iterative procedure. The number of iteration increases till the zone is relieved (approxmately) of the tensile stresses.This paper gives a matrix, Dy means of which the exact solution of "no tension" analysis can be obtained. Multiplied by this matrix, the tensile stresses will be annihilated with only one iteration needed, It will save lots of computer hours in"no tension" analysis.
