The Effects of Free Iron Oxides on the Engineering Properties of Red Clay

In this paper the condition of formation, dominant minerals, chemical composition, elementary particles of aggregates, cementation of free iron oxides and porous structure of the residual-talus red clay in Lubuge project are preliminarily studied by experiments. And then the essential causes for the engineering properties such as low unit weight, high water content and high strength of the red clay are analyzed and discussed.
