The Failure Criterion of Sand

In order to approach the failure criterion of sand, an experiment of independent control three-dimensional stress of sand has been performed with some simpler device. The result of the test shows that the variation of the strength of sand under different stresses varies under certain law and that the effects of the intermediate principal stress should not be neglected upon the strength of sand. The failure criterion of sand is similar to that of Lade-Duncan criterion.
