Strain  Path  Testing  Techniques  and  Its  Application    in  the  Study  of  Strain  Softening

The  significance  of  using  strain  path  testing  in  the  study  of  soil  behaviour  is  highlighted  in  this  paper.    The  testing  techniques,  testing  procedures,  and  the  control  accuracy  are  discussed.    Strain  path  testing  results  on  dense  sand  are  presented  which  show  that  the  strain  hardening  or  softening  behaviour  of  dense  sand  is  greatly  influenced  by  the  strain  path  controlled  during  the  testing.
