Abstract
The corner effect is one form of the spatial effect of excavations, and it has significant influence on the displacement of buildings. Based on the excavation project of the underground commercial street of Bohai Road in Panjin, the displacement characteristics of the buildings near the corner are studied by using the method of FLAC3D. The calculated results show that the buildings near the corner exhibit different settlement both in the vertical and parallel directions of the excavation, which is characterized by 3D settlement. The buildings can obviously change the displacement fields around the excavation. The foundation stiffness has less influence on the settlement of the buildings. However, the depth of foundation will obviously affect the deformation of the buildings. The influence of the buildings on the displacement fields around the excavation should be considered when classifying the environmental protection level.
