Abstract
Based on the field tests on squeezed branch piles and piles with equivalent diameter, the static load tests on single pile and the test results of pile body resistance are studied and analyzed. The study indicates that load-settlement curve of squeezed branch piles changes slowly, and the piles behave mechanical features of end-bearing pile under the action of vertical load. The nature of foundation soils, span and diameter of piles, diameter and amount of plates and vertical spacing between piles are the main factors to influence bearing capacity of squeezed branch piles. The tests and study results provide valuable parameters and experimental data for engineering application of squeezed branch piles. In the engineering case, compared with that of the traditional borehole piles, the bearing capacity of single squeezed branch pile is increased by 89%, and the construction cost is saved by 28%.
