Pile-soil stress ratio of pile-supported embankments considering deformation of revolution paraboloid of reinforcement

  • A calculation method for pile-soil stress ratio of pile-supported embankments is proposed based on the previous researches, considering the actual deformation of geosynthetics-reinforced materials and assuming the deformation of reinforced materials in the form of a paraboloid of revolution. Through case studies, the calculated results from the improved expression are closer to the actual measurements, indicating the rationality of the assumption. Meanwhile, the effects of the tensile modulus and filling height of the reinforcement on the pile-soil stress ratios are studied. The results show that with the increase of the tensile strength of geo-grids and the height of fill, the pile-soil stress ratios above the net decrease, and those below the net increase.
