Abstract
Cement soil-treated gravity retaining wall is a typical form of support in soft soil area. Its stability mainly relates to the overall stability, overturning stability and sliding stability. The current design method of Shanghai technical code for excavation engineering is the safety factor method. By gathering some typical site survey reports in Shanghai area for variability analysis, the range of shear strength is put forward under the acceptable level. Based on the Shanghai code, the security level of the design method for the cement soil-treated gravity retaining wall is discussed by using the calibration method. The results show that under the safety factors which meet the requirements, the reliability index of the overall stability is the highest, followed by that of the overturning stability, and that of the sliding stability is the lowest.
