Control of differential settlement of road widening of expressways on soft soil foundation

  • The control of differential settlement of the road widening of expressways on soft soil foundation has been a significant research in the recent years. Based on the in-suit monitoring results of three widening departments in Jiaxing-Shaoxing highway and the surface cracking in actual projects, triple settlement controlling criteria used for road widening of expressways aceproposed according to the analysis of ground surface settlement and settlement rate, that is, control of settlement rate during construction period, control of differential settlement between new and old embankments, and control of gradient ratio. By using these criteria, the differential settlement of road widening of expressways decreases effectively, and it may provide a reference for other projects.
