Deformation of asymmetric foundation pit caused by staged dewatering and excavation

Abstract
The process of staged dewatering and excavation of an asymmetric foundation pit is simulated by the finite element numerical simulation, and the deformation properties of the retaining structure are compared with the measured data. Due to different excavation depths of the asymmetric foundation, in the process of staged dewatering and excavation, the vertical deformation of the retaining structure is inclined along the cross-section. In the meantime, the horizontal deformation goes towards the direction of the shallow pit, which makes the eccentric rotation of the whole retaining structure. At both sides of the asymmetrical pit, the horizontal deformations of the retaining structure and land subsidence exhibit large differences, which will certainly cause the asymmetric environmental effects.
