Abstract
In order to study the soil and water characteristic curve of remolded soil samples at different depths of soil, an experiment is done in a project in Zhenjiang using the stress-related GEO-Experts soil and water characteristic curve pressure plate apparatus. The factors influencing the test consequences are also analyzed in the experiment. According to the tests, with the increasing matrix suction, the volumetric water content of soil gradually decreases, during the dehydration process of soil samples at different depths. However, when the soil samples are in the process of absorbing water, the results are on the contrary. And with the same variable quantity of matrix suction values, the greater the soil depth, the more change the water content. What’s more, even if the soil samples absorb water again, they will not return to the original state when they have finished the dehydration process. In addition, the main influencing factors are analyzed, and several corresponding methods are given. It is helpful to the research on the influence of rainfall infiltration on the soil shear strength in local region and the slope stability.
