Application of retaining structure of steel sheet pile cofferdam in soft soil area

  • As a new structural form, the double-row pile supporting structure has effectively overcome the shortcomings of single-row pile supporting structure without adding much investment expense. Moreover, the structure has also increased the application value by enlarging the working surface. However, there are many issues about the stressing and deformation of double-row pile supporting structure too need further studies. Researches on the double-row steel plate pile cofferdam structure are carried out based on the large-scale double-row steel plate pile cofferdam structure projects and the actual field data measured from these projects. The advantages, disadvantages and several calculation methods for the double-row piles are comprehensively discussed. Meanwhile, they are calculated and analyzed by means of the simplified earth pressure of the finite element method. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the stress and displacement of the simplified model are both larger than the actual measurement data, which has proved the safety of the simplified model. Currently, the researches on the interaction and spatial effect of double-row piles from the stress characteristics and calculation pattern of double-row steel plate piles are still very limited. Therefore, it is necessary to perform further studies deformation patterns of the double-row pile supporting structure. This study may provide some beneficial reference for similar projects in the future.
