Beneficial factor of pit resilience recompression in view of reducing differential settlement of main building and podium

  • The basement of high-rise building with podium is under the state of compensated foundation or super-compensated foundation. The large different settlement of the main building and podium often results from the interaction calculation of subsoil (pile & soil)-foundation-superstructure. It causes to interposing settlement joint and settlem ent post pouring concrete belt in order to repair the differential settlement. But the observed settlement results in a small difference of the main building and podium. Under the serviceability state the subsoil settlement is pointed out due to recompression of pit resilience through the measured differential settlement analysis of different foundation types of the main building and podium. The recompression settlement can be produced under the less vertical load and approach the pit resilience value which substantially reduces the differential settlement of the main building and podium. The pit resilience recompression is a beneficial factor in view of reducing the differential settlement of the main building and podium. The larger depth of embedment, the more obvious this effect.
