Abstract
The dynamic response of Zipingpu Concrete Face Rock-fill Dam (CFRD) shocked by aftershock after Wenchuan Earthquake is analyzed. The basic characteristics such as response spectrum of aftershock records are studied. Three-dimensional dynamic finite element method (FEM) is adopted to analyze Zipingpu CFRD while the representative strong motion recorded by rock stations at the dam site are used as the seismic input and then compared with the measured data recorded by stations of Zipingpu Dam. It is shown that the measured acceleration response spectrum of aftershock records in the short period partly exhibits certain fluctuation and a decreasing trend in longer period. It seems that the shape of the seismic response spectrum measured by stations of Zipingpu dam is consistent with features of the spectrum law. From the measured results and numerical results as well as previous experimental information, the measured results of the aftershocks are consistent with the general rules of structural response.
