Abstract
By use of centrifuge model tests, the deformation properties of Chahanwusu CFRD are studied. Considering the characteristics of CFRD and the requirements of centrifugal model tests, the equal quantity replacing method (EQRM) is presented to reduce the particle size of the original sandy gravel materials. In addition, the simulation method for the concrete face slabs and diaphragm walls is proposed based on the principle of bending stiffness similarity. In the tests, the deformation of concrete diaphragm walls is measured by strain gauges and laser sensors, and the test results are compared with the computation results of numerical analysis method. From the tests, the centrifugal model tests are proved to be very helpful in understanding the behaviors of the dam and diaphragm walls. It is quite effective in verifying the results of numerical analysis.
