Behavior of underground structures under large area loading

Abstract
Based on the loading transfer hybrid FEM method,the behavior of underground structures(an alleyway for transporting gravel,a storehouse and the pile foundation) under large area loading was studied using FEM software ABAQUS.It was shown that the complicated mechanical behavior could be simulated and reflected clearly by 3D FEM under the pressed,pulled,bent and wrested conditions.The expansion joint setting between the storehouse and the alleyway for transporting gravel could reduce the stress concentration where the cross-section was changed.The piles used under the alleyway and storehouse could prevent efficiently the overturning of underground structures and reduce the large displacement under large area loading.The difference of vertical and horizontal displacement could also be reduced by the pile foundation.The results might be useful as reference for the design and construction of such kind of structures in the future.
