Abstract
The frequency domain response of single pile embedded in half-space saturated soil and subjected to Rayleigh waves was investigated.Based on the fictitious pile methodology, the original soil-pile interaction problem was reduced to the superposition of an extended porous half space and a fictitious pile. The extended porous half space was described by Biot’s theory, while the fictitious pile was treated by the bar and beam vibration theory. The second kind of Fredholm integral equation for the pile was established in terms of the fundamental solution, the compatibility conditions and the free wave field. The dynamic response of the soil-pile system was yielded by numerical solution of the integral equation. It was shown that the influences of the permeability, the pile-soil elastic modulus ratio and the frequency of the incident waves on the dynamic response of the soil-pile system were significant.
