Influence of mining velocity on mechanical characteristics of surrounding rock in fully mechanized top-coal caving face

Abstract
Numerical simulation and equivalent material simulation were carried out to analyze the stress,displacement and failure with different coal winning velocities based on engineering geology and exploitation technology of 1151(3) fully mechanized top-coal caving(FMTC) face in Xieqiao colliery.At the same time influence of mining velocity on safety of the FMTC face was investigated.With the increase of mining velocity,the area of low stress zone,the range of failure zone and displacement at the FMTC face decreased.The distance between the face and the position of the peak value of abutment pressure decreased,but the peak value of abutment pressure increased.To increase the mining velocity properly could be of great advantage to keep the roadway stable and to improve the maintenance of the roadway.In order to ensure the safety in production,monitoring measures should be carried out to prevent rockburst.
