Reliability analysis of seepage stability on standard dyke of Yellow River

Abstract
According to the characteristics of the Yellow River dyke,reliability theory was applied to the analysis of seepage stability on dyke,and a finite element program based on Monte-Carlo method was developed.By the laboratory tests on all sorts of soils along the dykes of Yellow River,the statistical analysis on some parameters of soils was studied,and the distribution of the permeability coefficients of soils was educed.Criterion of seepage failure for Yellow River dykes was proposed.The judgement methods of the seepage failure area were studied on the basis of the seepage failure probability of the soil cells.There were five typical sections of the dykes with analysis of seepage failure probabilities the conditions of different silting widths,and the proper silting width and the seepage stability of dyke were discussed.Some preparatory proposals were advanced on the standardization construction of dykes of the lower Yellow River.
