Abstract
Sodev’s empirical formula is often used to determine the vibration velocity of blasting, in which coefficients of K and α are often defined by engineering analogism, so the error is large. Several modified equations are proposed by some researchers for lack of altitude effect in the Sodev’s formula, but the modified equations are complex and unfit for practical engineering. In addition, K and α are coefficients associated with the situations of site and geology, including altitude effect. Therefore, the modification is unnecessary. Based on this idea, the rules between K, α and altitude are studied by measurement in site and regression analysis of K, α at different altitudes. The results show that the altitude effects of K and α are different for different lithologic characters, so the rational vibration velocity can be got by a simple way, that is, the values of K, α should be defined by the rules between K, α and altitude firstly, then, the Sodev’s formula is used to gain the vibration velocity.
