There are many geotechnical engineering problems in foundation excavation related with the “feeble confined water” lying in Shanghai soft soils in engineering constructions. It involves dewatering, drain, stability, construction and ground settlement around the pit etc. By analyzing the practical examples, the geohydrological terminology the “feeble confined water” and the evaluation works in geotechnical investigation were discussed.
