Abstract
The experimental tests for limestone specimens in uniaxial compression were carried out to study the mechanical effects of loading rates on limestone using electro-hydraulic and servo-controlled testing machine (RMT-150B), in which loading rate was treated as a variable. Mechanical characteristics of rock influenced by the loading rates, such as a uniaxial compressive strength, deformation, mode of failure as well as the post-failure behaviour and complete stress-strain curve, were analyzed quantitatively. The complete uniaxial compression failure curve and some important characteristics and parameters of the limestone were obtained and offered on important basis for the exploitation and design of the mine.
