The finite element/infinite element methods (FEM/IEM) were used to calculate the three-dimensional resistivity modeling in mapping surveys. The basic control equations of the FEM/IEM were given in this paper. And both synthetic and field data of 3D resistivity models were analyzed. The calculated results show that this method gives a good approximation for the actual 3D resistivity structure of underground.
