Abstract
A newly developed fiber optic sensing net is presented in this paper. Optical fiber (cable) was weaved into a fiber optic sensing net. The distribution of strain experienced by the net was measured by a BOTDR (Brillouin Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer). The flexible fiber optic sensing net laid on the surface of a slope can deform along with the slope surface. Therefore, the surface deformation of the slope can be monitored by measuring the strain of the fiber optic sensing net. The laboratory experiment showed that the net was sensitive to the surface deformation caused by loading. By analyzing the strain of optical fiber (cable) and the position of loading, a 3-D simulation was made.
