Finite element analysis of multi-braced retaining structures with consideration of the effect of staged excavation

  • Multi-braced retaining structures have been widely used in the deep excavation. A finite element method based on the theory of elastic foundation beam are presented in this paper, with consideration of the effects of staged excavation upon the bracing force and the internal force as well as displacement of retaining structures. Meanwhile, the matrix equations in different stage have been derived. Comparison shows that the results obtained by the proposed method are very closed to the test data, thus the accuracy of the proposed method has been verified.
