Abstract
A particular large scale triaxial experimental frame for physical simulation came to fruition in China University of Mining and Technology in 1986, which, with a special nature, can be used to solve the problems of geomechanical engineering and mine construction. The frame is nominally 2.4 meters high, 1.6 meters in diameters, and can be loaded up to 11.0 MPa. For more than 10 years, many research projects have been conducted on this frame, which include studies on manually frozen temperature field, the relation between thickness of frozen wall and its displacement, the stresses in the freezing tubes and the tube distortion, the stresses in shaft lining in deep subsoil and the interaction between the wall and surrounding rock reinforced, and so on.A series of research results have been achieved, including “the theory of additional forces" that describes the mechanism of shaft wall failure.
