Abstract
The paper discusses heat moisture migration in saturated freezing soil on the basis of mixture theory and continuum mechanics. The main results are ①a criterion of forming layered ice in freezing soil is proposed and ② the problem of heat moisture migration is controlled by a nonlinear Burgers equation with varying boundary, which provides a theoretical foundation for studying the nonlinear effects of heat moisture migration in freezing soil.
