Study on calculational method of geotextile-reinforced and plastic board-drained foundation

A methed, consists of reinforcement by geotextile and drainage with plastic board, was used to bimprove the soft ground at Bangiao location in the Nanjing Raocheng Highway Project, Phase Ⅱ, and has yielded good results. In this paper, FEM of Biot’s theory is applied to calculae the consolidahon of foundation. The plastic board is rationally simplified to equivalent sand-well. The strength characteristic of getoxtile-reinforced soil is taken into accoun. The measared results compare favourably with the numetical results that verifies feasibility of the compotational method.
