Comparison of tensile and compressive behaviours of rock

In this paper, on the basis of rock mechanical test results in recent years (for example, complete stess-strain curves of different rocks in uniaxial tension and compression tests, loading rate dependency of tensile and compressive strength, and the relation between creep life and creep stress), the similarity of mechanical behaviours between tension and compression test was investigated and discussed.
