Abstract
The regional land subsidence with its damage induced by groundwater exploitation has become a severe global geologic hazard. Monitoring and forecasting the land subsidence of the control post is the main work in subsidence research. Based on the formula for calculating the land subsidence resulting from one pumping well, using the superposition principle of linear differential equation, a formula for the regional land subsidence for group pumping wells is deduced, which has linear s-lnr relation, where s represents the subsidence and r stands for the distance. The conclusion is proved by the monitoring data of several regions in China and other countries. Though the influences of complex geological structure and subsidence funnels are not regular, linear s-lnr relation exists in all cases referenced. The rules of linear s-lnr relation of land subsidence can be used to predict the vertical displacement for concerned points and cubes applied in engineering practice.
