Design practice and analysis of deformation control of deep excavations in soft soil areas

Abstract
Based on the deep excavation of general comprehensive ward building of Ruijin hospital in Shanghai, a case of excavation which adopts diaphragm wall with several internal bracing and construction measurements to control its deformation under high requirements of environmental protection is introduced. The monitoring deformation data of the circumjacent pipelines, buildings and diaphragm wall show that the deformation-control measurements achieve the prospective effect. This case may provide a reference for the design and information construction of similar deep excavations.
