Abstract: Based on three vertical shear models of soil an approach to calculate the displacements of large diameter cylindrical wall is presented here. The relevant parameters are determined by the model test. Comparisons are made with other approaches and test results. In addition, several dimensionless parameters figuring the displacement feature of the system are deduced, and their effects on the displacements are studied.
