Abstract:
Load transferbehavior of cement treated soil column is studied by conducting full scale ieldtest.Results showed that the percentage of load transferred to the column end is small.The deforma-tion,axial stress and frictional resistance of column shaft occurred mainly within the depth 0~l
c(l
c: thecritical column length).As the total load increased the shaft deformation,the axial stress and the fric-tional resistance increased greatly within the depth 0~l
c but they increase little for the depth below l
c.Failure of the column occurs mainly at the shallow depth under high compressive stress,and the failurepatterns of the column are of annular tension cracks and/or brittle cracks. In the elastic range,theaxial stresses by FEM are in agreement with measured results.
