Critical width method for analyzing stability of foundation pits against basal heave failure

摘要: 为了提高深基坑抗隆起稳定设计的可靠性,根据Terzaghi地基承载力理论,针对基坑隆起破坏均为单面滑动失稳的实际情况,推导了新的计算抗隆起稳定安全系数方法——临界宽度法,提出了对应抗隆起稳定最小安全系数的临界宽度概念,给出了均质地基的临界宽度的理论解答。对影响基坑抗隆起稳定问题的因素进行了参数分析,并建议了相应的抗隆起稳定安全系数允许值。通过初步工程应用对比分析,证明了所建议新方法有可行性和工程实用意义。Abstract: In order to improve stability of foundation pits against the basal heave failure,a new method called critical width method(CWM)for calculating the factor of safety against basal heave failure was suggested according to Terzaghi’s theory of bearing capacity of foundation and considering that only a single-sided sliding surface existed in real cases of failure.The concept of critical width corresponding to the minimum factor of safety was suggested and the theoretical solution of critical width was given for cases of homogeneous soil foundations.Parametric analyses were conducted to comprehensively understand the problem of basal heave failure of foundation pits.The allowable value of the factor of safety for the new method was also suggested.The validity and significance of the critical width method were then demonstrated through comparative analyses of practical cases.
