Abstract:
Uniaxial compressive strength tests were conducted on saturated frozen clay with different dry density at constant strain rate.Test results show that the compressive strength of frozen clay increases exponentially with decreasing temperature, increasing strain rate(or decreasing time to failure). The compressive strength of frozen clay also increases with increasing dry density in a certain range of dry density. The models for estimating the uniaxial compressive strength of frozen clay based on strain rate (or time to failure),temperature and dry density were presented.
