Abstract: Based on the assumption of circular slip surface, the pattern search method was used to determine the most dangerous slip surface and the corresponding minimum safety factor. The new method smashes the trammels of the traditional methods with which a range of the center of the circle must be given to determine the most dangerous slip surface. The new method raises the reliability of the slope stability analysis.
